The Lab
A real usability lab — built for your building, or your trunk.
Ovo doesn't just ship software. We design, build, and install the physical lab around it — from a permanent, professionally wired research suite to a road-ready kit that fits in a case. Both run Ovo Logger. Both keep every recording on hardware you own.
01 / Two ways to run a lab
Same software. Two very different rooms.
The difference isn't a spec sheet — it's where the lab lives and how it's built. Pick the one that matches how your team tests.
Built into your building.
A dedicated space wired for research — participant room, observation room, and a rack of professional A/V gear installed and calibrated once, used for years.
- Professional A/V infrastructure: matrix switchers, PIP inserters, PTZ cameras, audio processors
- Professional multi-channel capture on a dedicated workstation
- Up to 4 synchronized sources
- All hardware driven from inside Ovo Logger — route, pan/tilt, save presets
- Best for dedicated research facilities that test continuously
Goes on the road.
A road-ready kit built around a laptop and compact capture devices. Unpack it at a client site, a field location, or a spare conference room and be recording in minutes.
- Architected around a laptop + compact plug-in capture devices
- 1–2 sources — screen plus a webcam or a portable capture feed
- Packs into a case; sets up anywhere in minutes
- Runs Ovo Logger (or its locked-down Capture edition)
- Best for teams who test where their users are
| Capability | Fixed lab | Portable lab |
|---|---|---|
| Where it lives | Built into your building — a permanent suite | In a case — on the road |
| Built around | Dedicated workstation + multi-channel capture | Laptop + compact capture devices |
| Sources | Up to 4, synchronized | 1–2 |
| A/V infrastructure | Switchers · PIP · PTZ · audio, app-controlled | Direct-attached devices |
| Set-up | Installed & calibrated by Ovo, once | Self-deployed in minutes, anywhere |
| Best for | Dedicated research facilities | Field & travelling research |
02 / A/V control
Drive the whole rack from the app.
In a fixed lab, the professional A/V gear isn't a separate control panel to learn — Ovo Logger drives it directly over serial. Route any input to any output, pan-tilt-zoom the cameras, insert picture-in-picture, and set audio levels, then save it all as a reusable template.
Matrix switchers
Professional video routers — route any input to recorder, observers, PIP, and monitors.
PTZ cameras
Pan / tilt / zoom with live preset save-and-recall from the console.
PIP & audio
Hardware picture-in-picture inserters and audio processors — levels and layouts as templates.
03 / Field & mobile
Research doesn't always happen at a desk.
A portable rig goes wherever the study does — a store aisle, a hospital ward, a customer's kitchen. And when the "device under test" is a vehicle, Ovo Logger has recorded four synchronized sources from inside a moving car: driver, road, dashboard, and screen, all on one clock.
04 / Setup & services
We spec it, build it, and install it.
A lab is hardware, wiring, and calibration as much as software. Ovo does the whole thing — so your researchers walk in and start testing.
Designed to your space
We scope the room, sources, and A/V infrastructure to how your team actually runs studies — fixed suite or travel kit.
Supplied & installed
Capture hardware, switchers, cameras, and audio — sourced, wired, and calibrated by Ovo, then verified end to end.
Trained & backed
Your team is trained on the rig and the software, with ongoing support and a licensing model that stays entirely offline.
The Lab
Let's design your lab.
Tell us where you test and how — a permanent suite, a travel kit, or something in between — and we'll scope the rig, the hardware, and the licensing to fit.
