Local AI analysis for your studies: session summaries, a cited findings report, grounded question-answering, and a study designer, all running entirely on your machine. Nothing about your study leaves your network.

Installing the AI Pack

Where to get it. The AI Pack is a separate download from Ovo Studios, not part of the Ovo Logger installer and not something the app fetches for itself: the model is around 2.4 GB and this product does not reach the internet on its own. If your license includes the ai entitlement and you don't have the installer, email sales@ovostudios.com and we will send you the link.

Run the AI Pack installer on each machine that will do AI analysis. Like the app itself it is per-user with no administrator rights, and it places the local model next to the app. Updating the app does not remove the pack; the pack updates independently with its own installer.

Once it is in place the AI features work by themselves. There is nothing to point at the model and no setting to turn on: the app looks for it beside its own program file, which is where the pack puts it. The AI items are listed as soon as the license carries the entitlement, before the pack is installed; choosing one on a machine without the pack says so and names what to install, and the Activation window's AI Pack line reads not installed until it is.

AI Analysis and the findings report

Open Analysis → AI Analysis, marked ✨ in the left menu, and click ✨ New findings report. AI Analysis is a page in the main window. Its left rail has two tabs, Findings reports and Answers, each with its action above its own list: New findings report on the first, Ask AI on the second. The rest of the page shows whatever the rail has selected. Pressing New findings report shows what a report is and a Generate findings report button; pressing Ask AI shows a question box. A report or answer still being made is a row in its list like any other, marked Queued or Generating, and its progress, with Stop, shows only when you select that row, so you can keep reading an earlier report while a new one is made. A finished report has its HTML and PDF exports above it, and they export that report. Ovo Logger summarizes each session locally, then drafts a plain-language findings report for stakeholders:

• What we tested · How it went overall · What got in people's way · Task by task · What we recommend.
• Every claim carries a citation naming the participant and the moment, like ▶ Part02 @ 6:35 "…": click it to jump to that exact moment in the recording, even in another session. Review opens at that click, not before. A session with no participant assigned is cited by its session number instead, S2 for the second recording.
• A collapsed Researcher appendix carries the exact methodology detail - themes, severity, per-task scores - computed by the app, never paraphrased by the model.

The summaries are prepared ahead of time. As soon as a study has sessions with notes in them, the app summarizes each one in the background, so the activity strip at the foot of the window may read AI Analysis: preparing session 2 before you have asked for anything, and the New findings report screen says the same. That is groundwork, not the report: you can still generate, and a report you ask for simply runs after the summaries it needs. Stop preparing session summaries, on that screen, or Stop in the activity strip's detail list, leaves that session for the report to summarize later; nothing is lost but the head start.

Ask AI

✨ Ask AI, on the Answers tab of the AI Analysis page, shows a question box. Type a specific question and press Enter or Ask: "Where did people struggle with checkout?", and answers it from only your study's data, with clickable citations. The question joins the top of the Answers list straight away, selected, showing its progress until the answer replaces it, and every question you have asked stays there to reread. If the data doesn't answer the question, it says so rather than guessing. Ask AI is read-only: it never changes the study.

AI Study Designer

Describe your study in plain language - the product, what you want to learn, who your users are, and the AI Study Designer (on the Study Setup page, marked ✨ in the left menu) drafts a plan: tasks with success criteria, a screener, Quicklog labels, and a moderator guide.

1. Fill in the brief and let it draft.
2. Review and edit everything it produced - tasks, tags, screener, guide.
3. Click Apply to project. Nothing is written until you apply.

AI history

Reports, answers and session summaries are kept. The two lists on the AI Analysis page are the history: Findings reports lists every report by when it was made, and Answers lists every question you have asked, so you can reopen an earlier report, compare it with a newer one, or find last week's answer. Pick one to read it; a new report or answer joins the top of its list when it finishes. A study plan is kept too, and the AI Study Designer opens on the newest. Regenerating never overwrites an old report - a finished report is a record of what you knew at the time.

Delete all removes every stored AI output for the study at once - reports, answers, plans, and the per-session summaries the list doesn't show. Summaries regenerate automatically in the background; reports, answers and plans do not. Useful for starting the AI's view of a study over from nothing.
