Ovo Logger 7.0 has been designed using the .NET framework, ensuring that the software can communicate with all necessary hardware in today's more locked-down IT infrastructures. In addition, this upgrade means a sleeker, contemporary, and efficient user interface.
Pre-Study Features
OvoScript - allows you to graphically create a workflow for your study, bringing together tasks, questionnaires, event tracking and capture control. This allows you to administer a more uniform test with or without a moderator present!
Best Practices Project - Ovo Logger 7.0 now comes with a 'pre-built' project with default values for users, demographics, task ID's, parameters, categories and questionnaires. It is perfect for the user new to usability testing or a great way to get acclimated with the power of Ovo Logger 7.0.
Users, Descriptions and Demographics - New in Ovo Logger 7.0, you may now create an unlimited number or set of user demographics or descriptors for classifying users. These descriptors can be used as independent variables for your post study data analysis.
Tasks and Task Parameters - For each task in your test plan, you can now set up an unlimited number of sub-timers, counters, checklists, and moderator questions. You can also time multiple iterations of a task for each user. When using Satellite Logger, each observer can time tasks independently of one another.
Categories - Ovo Logger 7.0 features a more robust categorization engine, allowing you to create as many category sets as you want, and an unlimited degree of hierarchical categories. You can also associate an icon or a color with each category, allowing you to visually track patterns in your data.
Heuristics - In addition to Molich and Nielsen Heuristics (1990) and Ovo Heuristics, Ovo Logger 7.0 has added Gerhardt-Powals' Heuristics (1996) and Nielsen Heuristics (1994).
Questionnaires - In addition to the preconfigured SUS questionnaire, Ovo Logger 6.0 now employs the USE and QUIS questionnaires for quick, efficient deployment. As always, you may still create your own, using any mix of short answer, essay, Likert, bulleted answers, multiple choice, matrix style, ranking and 'pick one' questions.
Checklists - New to Ovo Logger 7.0, you now have the ability to create checklists within a task parameter. The checklist, only viewable from the logging side of the test, gives moderators the criteria for success on any task or sub-task.
QuickLog Keys - (user recommended upgrade!!) Ovo Logger 7.0's new QuickLog engine allows you to set an icon for each QuickLog code that will be displayed on your timeline. The Quicklog Legend is now mouse-interactive for logging and doesn't use any letters for reserved functions, so you can choose from all the letters in the alphabet when designing your QuickLog layout.
In-Study and Recording Features
Individual Source vs. Multiplexed Recording Options - Ovo Studios is still the only company that can bring you up to 8 sources of video, screen capture or eye-tracking. In the past, we recorded the sources individually, then allowed users to combine the clips through our highlight generation interface. While this functionality still exists in Ovo Logger 7.0, users now have the option of upgrading to our software Multiplexer (21). Multiplexer allows you to premix your sources with full control over size, position and transparency, and record/stream to one file instead of multiple. This cuts down on server space and highlight generation time!
Customized User Interface - Ovo Logger 7.0 allows you to customize your interface to include as many (or as few!) dialogue windows that are open during your study.
Free-Form Logging - Exclusive to Ovo Logger, notate the exact issue at the exact point in the study that it occurred. You can couple this with categorical and quick logging for a more robust, complete study.
Automated Highlight Generation - (user recommended upgrade!!)New in Ovo Logger 7.0, you can now save highlight timing in the testing interface to automatically generate highlight clips during your post-study evaluation. This saves you the time of having to review unnecessary video and pick the start and stop time of your highlight clip.
Event Tracker - Formerly Web Monitor, Ovo Logger 7.0 is now capable of tracking the critical path through software applications and operating systems in addition to the click path through a web site.
Task Time and Success Tracking - Track the time on task, one or multiple iterations of a task, sub tasks and notable events that may occur during the execution of a task.
Event Duration Tracking - Ovo Logger 7.0's interface allows you to track the duration of an event of interest without tying up the task and sub task timers.
Remote Test Observation and Logging - Observers can access your study from anywhere in the world with an internet connection. LabStream (F3) allows viewers to watch your study and Satellite Logger (F4) allows observers to log observations and save them directly into the study database.
Post Study Features
Post Study Reporting - Ovo Logger 7.0's HTML based reports now comes complete with charts and graphs, based on the work of Edward Tufte, for better visualization of your findings. The Reports layout and style sheet have been improved for easier manipulation. Analysis of all metrics is available by user ID and user demographics.
Charts and Graphs - New for Ovo Logger 7.0, data and findings can be illustrated through the use of charts and graphs. We've based our charts and graphs on the work of Edward Tufte, so you can be sure that they adhere to the best design principles for the display of quantitative information.
Automated Analysis - Ovo Logger 7.0 is a powerful analysis tool. Within the software, you may report your findings based on one or many independent variables (demographics, tasks, etc.) and get frequency and mean analysis on each.
Highlight Reel Generator - New to Ovo Logger 7.0, create custom video presentations stringing together multiple highlight clips with title pages, static images, captions and voiceover.
