Ovo Logger: During the Study
Customizable User Interface
Ovo Logger 6.0 allows you to save the layout of components in the study-time
desktop so they appear in the same size and
position from study to study. For brief descriptions of study-time
components, hover on targets in the graphic below.
UI Excerpt: The Ovo Logger main logging interface.
Video and Screen Recording
Ovo Logger 6.0 allows for the simultaneous capture of up to 8 video
or screen sources. Ovo Logger's Windows Media-standard digital
recording technologies allow you to record webcams, camcorders,
gaming consoles, set-top-boxes, eye trackers, VGA screens of any
resolution (and any operating system) -- basically any type of video device out there. Regardless of video source, all
recordings are indexed by logged events for fast access during post-test
analysis.
The Most Extensible Logging Interface in the Industry
Ovo Logger's flexible data logging interface allows you to log
events in a way that complements your testing methodology.
- Free-Form Logging: full text descriptions may be typed for any
event.
- Categorical Logging: pre-defined and ad hoc categories may be used
to identify events. Three types of categorical strategies are
supported: traditional, task-specific, and
hierarchical. These categorical strategies can be used in
conjunction with one another, which allows you more flexibility over
categorizing your subjective feedback than ever before. A frequency
analysis is calculated for all categorical
observations and is presented on the Categories page in Ovo Logger's HTML report.
- Quicklogging: event codes may be assigned to every letter on the
keyboard for fast event logging.
- Task Time and Success Tracking: task begin and end points may be
marked and task resolutions indicated. Task timing provides an
accurate log of the time it took users to complete scenarios and
frequency analyses are calculated on task outcomes.
- Event Duration Tracking: logged events may be saved in
"running" status if event duration is of interest. Many
events may be running at once. To stop running events, click the [X]
button in highlighted cells in the Recently Logged Events area of
the study-time desktop. Elapsed times are calculated in Ovo Logger's
HTML report.

Ovo Logger: Log it Your Way
The staff at Ovo Studios thought they knew the best way to log
observational test data. Then we released Ovo Logger freeware to
thousands of usability professionals and they provided feedback about
how they wanted to log observational test data.
The Ovo Logger 6.0 interface reflects the feedback of our colleagues.
We are certain it will meet your needs. If it doesn't, please let us
know and we will try to include your feedback in subsequent releases.
Collaborative and Remote Logging
Ovo Logger gives you the
capability to stream the user's computer screen, a camera signal,
and audio to multiple remote observers. This permits people to
observe the
test and contribute logged events when the cost or time associated with travel would make it
impractical for them to attend in person.
